The History of Bluebird Cafe

The Bluebird Cafe' is where it all started for Dustin Lynch. As well as many other country music artist. So I thought I would share the history and background about Bluebird Cafe'.

Bluebird Cafe' opened in June of 1982. It was opened byAmy Kurland as a restaurant in a small strip center in the Nashville suburb of Green Hills. As a fan of song writers she quickly began inviting tunesmiths to preform on the small stage of the restaurant.

I think it's so cool that this little restaurant ended up becoming a song writers club. We're people such as Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, Kathy Mattea, Dustin Lynch and many more got there big break.

One night in 1987 Garth Brooks was scheduled to preform at Bluebird. There just happened to be an executive from Capital Records sitting in the audience. The executive later took Garth into the kitchen and asked him to stop by the label the next day to offer him a deal. Garth say's: "Bluebird is the beginning and the Mecca, the end."

On October 10, 2012 The Bluebird Cafe' made it's primetime debut on the ABC drama "Nashville".

There are over 65,000 people who visit the Bluebird Cafe' annually. Many people hear about the club on television or in publicized reviews.

I would love to visit the Bluebird cafe'. It has been a dream of mine for so long. I would love to see were some of my favorite artist got their start.

Bluebird Cafe' is a huge part of country music history. Without Bluebird, Dustin along with many other country artist, probably wouldn't be where they are now.

I hope you have a better idea of what Bluebird Cafe' is all about. And if you ever get the chance to go there, maybe you'll get your big break, or even run into Dustin Lynch.

I have been talking a lot about Dustin Lynch and his music lately. And thought that it might be fun to talk about something other than his music.

So I started looking around at different interviews with Dustin. And in this interview with Stephen L. Betts on theboot.com, Dustin was asked "one smell that I love is..." And Dustin said;

Any kind of baked cobbler. But there's the weird smell that I love that people have always thought was funny. I love the smell of skunks. Driving down a back road and you smell a skunk that's sprayed or been hit. I love that. It reminds me of home.

Skunks! Such a weird smell, so I'm gonna stick with the smell of baked cobbler. And seeing that Dustin loves the smell of any baked cobbler I found a recipe for peach cobbler that I would love to share with you!

Getting Started

Dustin Lynch went to Limbscomb University. In the middle of Nashville Tennessee, the home of country music.

Dustin knew that Limbscomb University was within two miles of Blueird Cafe', a song writing venue. Dustin's biggest dream was to become a country music singer/ song writer.

Dustin lived in an apartment right behind Bluebird Cafe', so he could be in the middle of making history in country music.Lynch would walk into Bluebird a couple of times a week to listen and learn about the mysterious art of creating songs from some of Nashville's most important writers.

That's where it all started in Bluebird Cafe'. Dustin meet many other writers there. And after he finished college, he continued to write songs.

Dustin's later to become manager, found some of his songs that he posted on MySpace, and convinced Dustin to audition for Valory Music Company. "Man, I walked in there and played and they said "we're in, lets do this!" Said Dustin.  Billy Dukes

Dustin Lynch is now working with Broken Bow records. He has recently released his self titled album (Dustin Lynch) on August 21, 2012. His first single "Cowboys and Angels" made the top 10 on country music  billboards. And he is quickly becoming a big name in country music. All this happened with the help of Bluebird Cafe', a big dream, and determination.

27 year old, Dustin Lynch, a new coming country singer best known for his top 10 hit "Cowboys and Angels", found his way to the top with a big dream, a biology degree, and being part of a song writers club.

After high school Dustin attended David Limpscomb University, (a Christian institute in Nashville)  and fulfilled a degree in biology. Dustin choose to attend Limbscomb because it was so close to Bluebird Cafe'. (A song writing venue) By spending those four years in Nashville and going to Bluebird Cafe' it helped him "test the waters on music and to learn about himself, and what direction he wanted to go as an artist."

Dustin later decided to audition to preform at Bluebird. He passed the audition with flying colors. He really impressed the host Barbra Cloyd. She even chased him down in the parking lot and offered to help him get his foot in the community.

I'm doing this blog on Dustin Lynch because he inspired me not only as a country music lover, but as a person. He has taught me know matter how big of a dream you have, you can make it come true with hard work and determination.

In this blog I am looking forward to giving you the inside scope on all things about Dustin Lynch. Including some things like his music, hobbies, the people who inspire him, and other fun facts you might not know.

I hope you will have as much fun reading this blog as I do writing it. And hopefully by the end you will be sittin' pretty with Dustin Lynch!
